Chinese cultural workshops

Fong gives educational Chinese cultural workshops and Chinese music lectures for students and local communities. Her workshops include an introduction to China, Chinese language, Chinese songs and Peking opera mask painting.

She gave workshops, lectures, live performances and taught Chinese songs at lot of schools and communities in the UK such as Kinrose High School, Inverness Crown Primary School, Hartlepool Throston Primary School, Northumberland Whitley Chapel First School, Mowden Hall School, Perth Horsecross Choir, Somerset College and Aberdeen University. She sings each song in its regional manner. Students and audience will discover the colourful variety of Chinese culture from Fongs singing and the accompanying visual material. In the painting Peking opera mask workshop, Fong introduces the symbology behind painted Peking opera faces. Students will learn how the different colours represent the personality of the characters in the performance and will have an opportunity to paint a face mask themselves. Fong uses PowerPoint presentation to display visual material such as photos, maps and explanation of the development of Chinese script.
